How to find us
Do not rely solely on your SAT-NAV.
Do not drive down Ings Lane.
Do not drive down Ings Lane.
- You should be turning onto a single-track lane, (we have now Tarmac’d the lane!!), opposite a cemetery with a red brick wall, (not a graveyard which is next to a church!).
- There is a small grass triangle at the end of the lane with a small oak tree in the middle.
- You should be able to see a green sign- ‘Baxby Manor’ and a wooden sign on the triangle for ‘The Hideaway’, ‘Rufus’s Roost’, and ‘Baxby Airsports’.
- ‘MANOR FARM’ in CARLTON-Husthwaite (with a tractor on the sign) is the WRONG entrance! It may look like a perfectly well maintained tarmac road but beyond the farm it deteriorates RAPIDLY and if you manage to get past the farm you WILL ground your car and get stuck further on!!
From the North
- A1/A19 to Thirsk, follow signs to York.
- Continue South on A19 IGNORING first turn-off at large crossroads signed CARLTON, HUSTHWAITE AND COXWOLD. Carrying on through village of Thormanby (on a hill), turning 2 miles on left signed Husthwaite, Coxwold, and 12th century church.
- Entrance to Baxby Manor is 2 miles on left opposite a cemetery and immediately before the village sign of Husthwaite.
- Entrance has small triangle with wooden signs and small Oak tree in middle!
- Follow small brown tent signs to arrive at The Hideaway!
From the South
- From the York ring-road take the A19 south towards Thirsk.
- Continue on A19 for approximately 12 miles. Over Easingwold by-pass (two roundabouts). Or call in at Easingwold for supplies!
- Turning on right (signposted Husthwaite, Coxwold, and 12th century church) approximately 2 miles after second roundabout.
- Entrance to Baxby Manor is 2 miles on left opposite a cemetery and immediately before the village sign of Husthwaite.
- Entrance has small triangle with wooden signs and small Oak tree in middle!
- Follow small brown tent signs to arrive at The Hideaway!
Trains, Buses, and Taxis
The closest train station is Thirsk, or a little further is York.
There are limited buses to and from Husthwaite/The Hideaway however please click here to view the latest timetable. which is 4 miles from The Hideaway has many buses serving it, you would just need to arrange a taxi from Easingwold to Husthwaite/The Hideaway.
